Press Release
Not Just Scary, Super Scary!
The Super Scary Monster Show Featuring Little Gloomy in August!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – 7/28/05

AmazeInk, the all-ages imprint of SLG Publishing, is very pleased to announce the return of your favorite spooky friends from Frightsylvania in the new series The Super Scary Monster Show by Landry Walker and Eric Jones. Little Gloomy, a girl living in a world of horror, Frank the Monster, Larry the Werewolf, Mummy and Carl Cthulhu are back for all-new adventures with an all-new look. They clash with aliens, fellow monsters and -- gasp! -- parents in the debut issue of the comic book with the scariest setting, funniest stories and longest title of any comic book out there, The Super Scary Monster Show Featuring Little Gloomy!

Walker and Jones, who also are the creators of the Disney Adventures comic Kid Gravity, decided to re-vamp their characters' look and storytelling style to tell shorter, humorous stories mainly featuring the supporting characters of their Little Gloomy series.

"It's nothing but short stories now, rather than the multi-issue mini epics we were doing before with these characters," said Jones, the artist of the duo. "The new series is funnier that the first series, too. We're focusing on doing fun comics. I think The Super Scary Monster Show is our best work yet."

The new format makes Super Scary Monster Show easy for new readers to start reading, explained SLG's editor-in-chief Jennifer de Guzman. "There's no back story that you'll have to know before reading an issue," she said. "Each issue has short stories that stand on their own, so it doesn't matter if you start reading at issue one or issue four -- the stories are still going to be funny."

Fans of the original Little Gloomy series needn't fear its demise, however. "The original Little Gloomy series will continue, although it remains on publishing hiatus for now," said Walker. "We are still actively working on issues 7 and 8. The art in that book is unchanged, as is the storytelling style. Essentially, The Super Scary Monster Show and Little Gloomy remain two different, yet linked projects."

The Super Scary Monster Show Featuring Little Gloomy #1 will be in stores on August 17. The black-and-white comic will be published on a bi-monthly schedule. Visit SLG Publishing's website, www.slavelabor.com, for a preview of the new series.
